You can e-mail the listserv to ask where others are playing your sport, and you can always plan your own event.
Please check listserv e-mails for the scheduling of our weekly events.
IT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED THAT YOU E-MAIL THE ORGANIZER OF AN EVENT IF YOU PLAN ON COMING (AND GIVE THEM A PHONE NUMBER). This lets the organizer know that they should look out for you, and allows them to reach you if the location or time needs to be changed.
Whether you climb 5.12 or don't know what a 5.12 even is, join us for our regular climbing nights at Ramsey.
Requirements: People of all levels welcome. You need to be certified to use the indoor wall, but the bouldering wall and slackline are open to everyone. Climbing shoes are recommended but not required.
Get a spotter for the bench press and a group to make sure you max out the reps on your crunches.
Location: Main Ramsey weight room. We warm up by walking or running on the treadmills for five minutes, so look there first.
Requirements: Tennis shoes, comfortable clothing, and a small towel (towels can be rented from the Ramsey front desk).
Our goals are made of t-shirts.
Location: Back of the UGA intramural fields. (Drive to the very end.)
Requirements: Cleats optional, and remember to bring water.
If the most climbing experience you've had in your life is with a ladder to paint your ceiling, then take our climbing class at Ramsey! A three hour class will give you a lifetime certification to use the Ramsey climbing wall. This is especially useful if you plan on joining us for our Queer Climbing Nights, or want to join an outdoor event.
Experienced climbers can join our trips to the Red River Gorge and New River Gorge. These trips are organized in conjunction with the facebook group Homo Climbtastic.
Even people who've never been in a kayak or canoe before can learn basic kayaking maneuvers during our group trip down the Broad River. The Broad is not very rough and is approachable for beginners.
Lambda has a large introductory meeting at the beginning of the Fall semester, usually the first Monday after classes begin in August.
Description from Lambda Alliance:
"Lambda Alliance's mission is to strengthen the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and ally community at the University of Georgia. We strive to create a safe, supportive, and secure campus environment for people of all sexual and gender identities through education and outreach to campus community members, social events, and by advocating for the needs of LGBTQA students at UGA."

The Queer and Ally Athletics officers continually raid other organizations' meetings to recruit members, including the yearly GLOBES reception. If you want to meet us in a relaxed environment (with great food), this is another opportunity. The reception is in the Founder's Memorial Garden, usually in early September.
Description from GLOBES:
"GLOBES is a diverse organization of faculty, staff, and administrators, whose mission is to advocate for, develop, and nurture UGA's LGBTQ communities. In partnership with our allies, including students, alumnae/i, and local community members, we strive to educate, to improve campus climate, and to foster progressive change as we visibly work for social justice, equity, and queer rights at UGA and beyond."
